Now in its seventh year, BIG SOUND is one of the most important, influential and fastest-growing music industry events in Asia Pacific, continuing to attract leading industry figures from around the world.

Q Music’s BIG SOUND Music Industry Summit and Showcase 2008 has added another 25 special guests speakers to its already jam packed line up including industry legend Seymour Stein (Warner Brothers) and the head of music for Fox TV, Ward Hake.

The USA serves the biggest contingent, with label and A&R heads Jeff Blue (Capitol), Rod Kukla (American Recordings), and notably Sire/Warner Brothers’ VP Seymour Stein and A&R Lisa Nupoff. They’re joined by Ward Hake (20th Century Fox TV), Ian Fintak (The Agency Group- America’s biggest booking agency), Mike Howlett (Producer) and Brandon Fuller (A&R Worldwide), plus Mike Walsh (Music Director X FM), and Japan’s Taka Chuyo (Fuji Pacific) and Daisuke Ihorihara (Bullion Records).

Michael Chugg (Michael Chugg Entertainment) heads off the Australian contingent of new announcements, including Mark Bulgin (MySpace Australia), Angela Glaister (Sound Sauce), Simon Cahill (One Love / Bandroom Records), Jaddan Commerford (Staple / Boomtown Records), Jeff Apter (Freelance Journalist), Sam Righi (Big Deal Inc), D-J Wendt (DMand Management), Evelyn Barry (Sanity Entertainment), Matt Rogers (Mushroom Group) and Jaime Gough (Native Tongue Publishing); plus notable locals Noel Mengel (Courier Mail) and Bill Riner (ABC Radio).

They join an already impressive lineup including Michael Gudinski (Mushroom Group), Richard Kingsmill (Triple J), Jordan Berliant (The Collective Music Group LA), Tim Prescott (Albert Music), Tak Furuichi (JVC Victor Japan), Paul Pittico (Dew Process / Secret Service), Luke Bevans (Universal Music Australia), Ted Gardner (Larrikin Management and co-founder of Lollapolooza), Paul Brown (Red Hat 22 Radio Plugging, US) and Shin Fukuzumi (P-Vine, Japan) amongst others.

BIG SOUND 2008 runs from 10 – 12th September in Fortitude Valley.

A series of musical showcases featuring some of Brisbane’s finest local acts has also been announced.
