The Big Day Out rumour mill is already in motion (with its fair share of red herrings), but it seems there’s real weight to claims that Neil Young will be making the January pilgrimage. Five years have passed since the folk-rock icon’s last visit, so a return is well overdue.
If the booking comes off, it’ll be a bold – and exciting – move for Big Day Out. Putting a veteran on the bill has always served Glastonbury well, with both Leonard Cohen and Neil Diamond playing the Pyramid Stage this year. While Young may not seem like your archetypal BDO act, we’re certainly hoping our sources are correct. Crowd-surfing to Heart Of Gold, anyone?
January 2009 isn’t exactly soon, but already FasterLouder has uncovered potential Big Day Out visitors Scars On Broadway, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Simian Mobile Disco. Stay tuned for updates!
