In an official statement, Chris and Myles have announced their “resignation” from Wolfmother. The rumour mill has been buzzing since their headline set at Splendour In The Grass on Sunday, with claims that all was not well onstage.

Here’s the statement:

“Grammy Award winning rock band Wolfmother has announced the resignation of bass/keyboard player Chris Ross and drummer Myles Heskett effective immediately.

Singer/guitarist Andrew Stockdale now plans to find other musicians over coming months and to then begin making a new Wolfmother album.

...Chris Ross decided to announce that he was leaving the band due to irreconcilable personal and musical differences. Myles Heskett has also decided to leave the band rather than continuing as part of a changed lineup. The pair has been working together on songs for some time and they plan to focus their energies on that new project in the future.

Andrew Stockdale, Myles Heskett and Chris Ross will make no public statements at this time except to say that they are each really looking forward to making their new music over the years ahead.

In the meantime they simply ask all Wolfmother fans to please understand that in spite of their best efforts over a long period of time, they just could not find a harmonious way to work together and that has lead to the decisions announced today.”

We can only assume those Wolfmother boardshorts will now become true collector’s items.

People like you think you are so wise and educated about music because you only listen to the most obscure, unknown bands. When in reality you are just narrow-minded and a massive music snob douche bag.

I like all GOOD QUALITY music. Regardless of what genre it may be. Regardless of what social stigma is attached to it. Regardless of what is "cool". How about you get your head out of your ass for two seconds and stop being a fucking sheep.

The Wolfmother album was fucking sick.

Foo Fighters are fucking sick also...they've produced numerous excellent albums. (Their live show at Acer Arena earlier in the year was awesome..great mix of acoustic and electric).

I've been studying and playing music for over 13 years. I've seen 100+ live shows. I've been to 20+ festivals. I know what I'm fucking talking about when it comes to music, so I will continue to listen to my Wolfmother, Foo Fighters and any other music I think is worth a listen.

You sir, are the douche bag.

Goddammit!

This thread's been going on without me!? :P

Luckily though plenty of others have picked up the slack where I left off last time and have joined in my delight and happiness that finally the fuck-awful blight on Australian music called Wolfmother is no more!

...And from what I read in the paper this morning that Stockdale wanted the next album to be a "Pink Floyd-esque prog-rock epic" it couldn't have come a moment too soon. Its bad enough to rip off one band I like in Led Zep, but then to move straight on to Floyd....?!?! That man's ego must have its own gravity field, its so fucking big!

So my sincere commiserations, dankobiaka - it seems you might have to listen to some ORIGINAL music to fill the void now... although I suppose Stockdale will probably have to work the local RSL playing solo acoustic wolfmother covers to pay the bills now, so do keep an eye out just in case!
