This past week FasterLouder has been out and about en force covering the hottest gigs in the city and surrounds. It may still be freezing cold here in the capital but the gigs are starting to heat up and you’ll notice there are some pretty amazing things coming up over the next month including, Sydney’s ‘it’ indie night Purple Sneakers coming to Canberra on 16 August. Keep your eyes peeled for more exciting announcements soon.
This week FL’s lovely Mary was keeping you on your toes at REV with a personalised touch, check out the photos here! REV wasn’t the only stop for the night however, with FL getting over to Transit Bar to snap the happy kids at Exposed.
Other highlights for the weekend include Julia and the Deep Sea Sirens, Degrees of Freedom and a great all ages gig at Lanyon Youth Centre, Afraid You’ll Fall.
Perhaps the highlight and low-light of the week was Violent Soho at Transit Bar on saturday night. With an enormous line-up out the door it was shaping up to be an exciting night with Cut Off Your Hands scheduled to headline. Unfortunately the boys called in sick to our disappointment leaving Violent Soho to pick up the slack. And did they ever! A fantastic show at our favourite venue, and of course for free. Let’s hope COYH make their way back to us soon! Check out the gallery of the week here!
This week after much anticipation, gossip, unfounded rumours and hopeful predictions, the line-up we’ve all been hanging out for was announced. Friction & Lexington Music will once again deliver a superb line-up for the Foreshore Summer Music Festival to be held right here in Canberra on 29 November. After getting down and dirty in the mud at Commonwealth Place last December this year the festival sees an expanded multi-stage format to bring in summer. To our absolute delight, after a two year hiatus from the capital, Foreshore will see the return of Australia’s hottest indie dance act The Presets to Canberra. And we can barely wait.
This week get yourself along to REV, or for something different check out the DMC World Championships at the Greenroom on Friday night. Canberra local’s Casual Projects will be hitting Transit Bar on Saturday night for what will no doubt be an entertaining and fabulous night.
