The third annual Wave Rock Weekender is on again during the September long weekend (27th-29th) in Hyden, and the just announced line-up is better than ever. The good folk at Soul Highway with some help from Supersonic have had enough of the corporate sponsored advertising laden supermarket-type festivals where everything is soullessly pre-packaged, and homogenised with the emphasis on how many cattle can be packed into a space, and how much they can be convinced to spend on tickets.
The Lineup:
The Audreys
Magic Dirt
Schvendes
Kill Devil Hills
Day of the Dead
Dave McCormack (Custard)
jackson jackson
Abbe May & Rockin Pneumonia
Sunshine Brothers
Mink Mussel Creek
Abbe May solo
TinPan Orange
Sneaky Weasel Gang
Tame Impala
DJ Charlie Bucket
Soul Highway reckon it is the best weekend of the year, in beautiful salty, scrubby, bushy Australia on the edge of the desert, featuring prehistoric rock formations, eerie salt plains, shiny salmon gums, wildflowers and big, big sky. A glance at the line-up promises that it will be a weekend full of great music that hasn’t sold it’s soul. There will be bush camping without the yucky bits, soaking in the 6 m deep therapeutic salt pond, partying under the ancient rock, falling asleep under the stars, and other like minded people who don’t need to be told what music to listen to. There will also be a 24 hour cinema program, 24 hour food, a bar, toilets and showers and the town of Hyden only 2 minutes away.
There are only 800 tickets available, they go on sale on August 11th for more details and to buy tickets, go to www.soulhighway.com.au.
