On April 16, 1943, Albert Hofmann accidentally absorbed a small quantity of LSD through his fingertips and discovered its effects before his bicycle ride home. It had been sitting in his lab for years, but now Hoffmann knew he’d made an important discovery.

LSDs powerful effects would go on to provide the catalyst for psychedelic music as well as lesser ‘benefits’ such as the popularity of tie-dye and cheese-cloth fashion.

Hofmann died at the age of 102 on the 29th of April this year and in tribute to his ground-breaking scientific work the Espy is hosting A Trip Thru Time – A Tribute To Albert Hofmann.

On Saturday, July 26th the Gershwin Room will squeegee its third eye clean and lay witness to a potpourri of mind-blowing music, featuring Black Cab’s heady brew of raw guitars, early ‘70’s style drums, plus pulsing electronic & industrial audio treatments combining an eerie take on late ‘60’s/early ‘70’s American rock.

They share the bill with The Sandpebbles, The Dollyrocker Movement, Jarvis Jay, Slight of Build and Mona Lisa Overdrive.

Plus D.J DMT keeping things weird between the bands and mind bending visuals provided by Eyes Without a Face.
