Slipknot and Machine Head tour

The masked men of metal have us in their sights. In late October, Slipknot touch down in Australia for a string of dates alongside extra-special guests Machine Head. Both bands are renowned for brutal live shows, and with this being an stadium-sized tour you can expect gargantuan production standards.

Slipknot’s fourth album, All Hope Is Gone, arrives in August on Roadrunner Records, and it’s expected to be as uncompromising as ever. Machine Head, in turn, are also still making head-caving music, typified by last year’s The Blackening. On their own they’re dangerous – as a double-header it’ll be all-out carnage. Don’t expect tickets to hang around long.

Slipknot ignite the following arenas in October, with Machine Head in support.

Friday 24th Oct – Riverstage, Brisbane
Tickets from www.ticketmaster.com.au 136 100

Sunday 26th Oct – Acer Arena, Sydney

Machinehead should be headlining! But I'm excited anyway, Slipknot aren't all that bad.

in the words of brian fantana "im very aroused"..

pffft sif machine head would headline. lets be realistic. which promoter would do that?

NiteShok

NiteShok said on the 24th Jul, 2008

My jaw dropped when I saw the headline. Machine Head dominated during the Black Crusade. So keen for this.

Dexter Ramone

Dexter Ramone said on the 24th Jul, 2008

Azza, I know noone would realistically put Machinehead first, but they deserve to be!

Hate the venue they're playing, but I will be there..

dream_brother

agreed that machinehead could potentially deserve, but who cares coz either way this is gonna be farken insanity. CANNOT WAIT.

MorningAfterboy

Machine Head could not fill the Acer.
I doubt they could even fill the Hordern.

Slipknot, on the other hand, definitely could fill the Acer on name alone.
And having Machine Head with them is sugar on top.

Dexter Ramone

I know they couldn't fill it, I was just stating a preference.

zealot

zealot said on the 25th Jul, 2008

i saw slipknot at the horden, it was terrible, they stopped every couple of songs to change mask's.kinda proves its about the gimmicks. they told everyone to "get the fuck down" and when those people didnt get down other slipknot fans through shit at them. there was even a guy with crutches people were throwing shit at. just awful.

dream_brother

dream_brother said on the 25th Jul, 2008

they changed masks becoz they are performing as a heavy metal act and you get sweaty as shit in shorts and tshirt, let alone skin tight leather masks and boiler suits.

if that was your definiton of terrible then that's pretty meak, coz there was definately nothing wrong with their sound. songs sounded great.

as for ppl throwing shit at a dude on crutches, that is very poor form, but blame that on the westie fuckwits, not the band. the only douchebag i saw who didnt want to sit down was the fat bastard at the front who was filming everything illegally, and he deservingly copped a bit.

zealot

zealot said on the 25th Jul, 2008

yeah the sound was good ill admit, just ruined the atmosphere from my point of view constantly stopping.

Really keen to go to this- anyone know anything about prices?

dream_brother

I saw Machinehead last year, and while it was easily my metal highlight for the year, I'm unsure whether the gig will be worth asked price..

Knaggz

Knaggz said on the 25th Jul, 2008

im guessing 80-90?
typical price for a massive band at the riverstage

would slipknot be bigger than muse?

im expecting some metal purists to leave after machine head
must say im not too much of a SK fan but the pit'll be going ape, itd be a sight to see

I really have big doubts as to whether Slipknot can fill the Acer.
Don't get me wrong... I think they are an awesome band and will be wicked to see again... but.. how many Metal fans ARE there in Sydney...?? I know there are alot... but enough to fill the ACER??

Both Slipknot and Machine Head have huge fans here in Australia. Both have had records in the top ten, and I know a lot of people caught their set at BDO in 2005.

This won't sell out, but I reckon it'll come close.

I never listened to Slipknot but I went to their last show at the Hordern and I really enjoyed it. Amazing atmosphere live.
The lineup was a bastard but it was easy to get up the front. The young un's don't have the muscle.

I will try to get to this because amazingly I have never seen Machine Head.
