Having last visited Australia a decade ago, cultural icon Patti Smith is set to make her triumphant return in October. Smith is equally esteemed as a rock – œn roll tearaway, a prolific visual artist and an astute writer. A creative force since the 1960s, she continues to work tirelessly in all her fields. Many musicians are indebted to Smith, and plenty more would probably like to lay claim to her life story.

Our last encounter with the – œgodmother of punk’ was on the Big Day Out tour in 1997, and this time it’ll be all about her. Expect to hear songs from new album Twelve alongside the many highlights of Smith’s back catalogue.
