Following an eccentric debut with a sleeker sophomore record Twenty One, English upstarts Mystery Jets are living up to the hype. FasterLouder has got its hands on Twenty One for an exclusive album stream ahead of its release.
Mystery Jets doesn’t have your typical band back-story. It began as a project between Blaine Harrison and his father, Henry, before some of Blaine’s musician mates came on board. While touring with your dad could take some adjustment, Mystery Jets announced itself triumphantly (if not a little weirdly) with Making Dens.
The elder Harrison is no longer an active member, changing the outfit’s constitution to four young guys. Twenty One was largely overseen by producer-at-large Erol Alkan, who steered Mystery Jets in the direction of “oddball pop”. The album is also a collaborative affair, with Blaine revealing “different people wrote different songs and lyrics.” All these elements have come together smoothly on Twenty One – something you can sample for yourself right here on FasterLouder.
