Reforming in 2008 to play huge European metal festivals exclusively, CARCASS – regarded one of the most influential and important bands in metal – return to our shores this October for the first time in fifteen years!
Beginning in 1985 with Bill Steer and Ken Owen, Carcass had an illustrious career spanning ten years thus helping create-along with Steer’s other band at the time Napalm Death-the metal sub-genre, Grindcore. But it was the addition of Jeff Walker, a bass player for the Electro Hippies and medical student whose knowledge and textbooks helped create the lyrical content of Goregrind.
Carcass released their debut album Reek of Putrefaction in 1988 to a strong reaction in the underground metal scene with its horrific album art and grotesque lyrical content. During the touring of 1989’s Symphonies of Sickness a second lead guitarist was added by the name of Michael Ammot, whose previous experience included Carnage and who went on to form Arch Enemy. In 1990 Carcass released the seminal album Necroticism – Descanting the Insalubrious proving to be a major turning point in the bands style focused more towards Death Metal. Along with 1993’s Heartwork this helped credit Carcass with being a very early founding influence of not just one, but two genres of metal – grindcore (or, more specifically, goregrind), and the modern melodic death metal sound.
This tour is sure to Reek of Putrefaction and provide you with the Flesh Ripping Sonic Torment Carcass fans have been yearning for!
