All of you indie-kids who have secretly cried your way through a break-up listening to a Bright Eyes album will be quietly joyous at the news that Conor Oberst ( the genius behind all that melancholy) is bringing his new project – Conor Oberst and The Mystic Valley Band – downunder.

Already announced as one of the headliners for The Great Escape Festival in October, we are pleased as all hell to let you know that he will also be doing some very intimate lil sideshows whilst he is here.

The shows are definitely not to be missed as he will be playing tracks of his soon to be released self-titled album, recorded at a Mountain Villa in the mystical TepoztlÃƒÂ¡n region of Mexico. Spooky – I know!

'The heretofore hush-hush coterie known as the Mystic Valley Band-- who helped Conor work up his new set last winter in Mexico-- has been revealed, too, and it's full of your usual suspects: Nate Walcott of Bright Eyes, Team Love recording artist Nik Freitas, Macey Taylor (brother of Maria), Rilo Kiley drummer Jason Boesel, and Alabama rocker Taylor Hollingsworth.'

So if Rilo Kiely's drummer is coming down here, can we have the rest of the band as well? I want some Jeny Lewis.

Conor is an amazing man.
He appeared on Jay Leno once, supposed to perform a song to promote a song from his new album. Instead, he wore a massive cowboy hat and performed a song called 'When The President Talks To God', which he wrote just that afternoon.
Pretty controversial. Its the story of Bush asking forgiveness for being a murderer and drug addict.I just find conor very interesting. I personally can't wait for the show.

I have been listening to the new album so much over the past few days.
I cannot wait to see some of these songs live. Talk has really died in this thread which sucks as it's going to be an amazing show.
Besides 'Valle Mystico" which is just a bit of a filler, every single song on the album is sooo good. Conor is truely one hell of a writer.

I'm not particularly excited yet. Excitement factor is being taken up by Supergrass. Aftertheir gig on Friday night, I'm sure I'll be excited about Conor!

Great gig!

The band was so tight and it all just seemed so effortless.

Lovely set, and the cover of Kodachrome was great.
