American electro-punk/new-wave outfit The Faint are set to tour Australia in September. Formed in Omaha, Nebraska, The Faint were initially known as Norman Bailer, and rather interestingly at one time had Conor Oberst (aka Bright Eyes) as a member.
So the story goes, not long after the band started Conor upped and left, and when he tried to return he wasn’t allowed back in. We’re not sure either party is all that concerned, as they’ve both gone on to achieve success in their respective fields, and The Faint’s energetic cross-over sound seems about as far removed from the introspective thoughts of Bright Eyes as you can get. Everyone’s happy, eh?!
Having recently split from their longtime label Saddle Creek, the band are set to release their fifth studio album Fasciination on their own imprint called blank.wav. Critical acclaim for their releases and live shows to date have been overwhelming, with respected music mag Mojo describing the band as; “A riotous mix of nuclear-age paranoia, dubious angst and party flamboyance,” and Rolling Stone stating; “Nothing about The Faint makes any sense and that just makes them better”.
If you want to see what all the fuss is about, be sure to check them out this September, presented by KMW Productions and our sister site inthemix:
Thu 25 Sep – Sydney, The Metro
Fri 26 Sep – Melbourne, Prince of Wales
Stay tuned to FL for updates. In the meantime get a taste of their live show with this performance of Paranoiattack on Jimmy Kimmel:
