Australian metalcore fans can rejoice in the news that German brutalists Caliban will be hitting our shores this August. It has been two years since the band were here last for the 2006 Gigantour. This jaunt will also mark the first time that Australian audiences will have had the chance to hear material from the band’s last album The Awakening.

Don’t be fooled by the Shakespeare inspired band name – with strong ties to metal juggernauts such as Killswitch Engage and In Flames, and six albums now under their belts, fans are guaranteed an intense live show. When asked on his thoughts on playing live, frontman Andreas Dorner responds, “I like the energy on stage, I love to scream, play with people, get contact, show what we have. I like to be on the road, meeting people and the parties.” Writing has already begun on an (as yet) untitled album, due in early 2009, so fans can expect to hear fresh material on the tour.

Catch Caliban at the following venues in August (ticketing information to be announced):

13 August – The Princess Theatre (All Ages), Brisbane

14 August – Club 299, Brisbane

15 August – Manning Bar, Sydney

16 August – Corner Hotel (All Ages), Melbourne

17 August – Corner Hotel, Melbourne

18 August – Fowlers Live (All Ages), Adelaide
