Scalper asks $2k for ticket toThe Wiggles

Were you one of the poor souls who missed out on tickets to the Big Day Out or the Powderfinger tour? If so, perhaps you can find some solace in the knowledge that you’re not alone… spare a thought for fans of The Wiggles; it seems even tiny tots aren’t immune from the ever-present money-grubbing tactics of dirty scalpers. Oh the humanity!
Currently on tour in the US, The Wiggles are set to return to Australia in May with a run of six shows in Melbourne. In the wake of a rapid sell out, tickets for the concerts soon made their way onto auction site eBay, with one cheeky scalper even being so bold as to ask $2,000 for a single ticket. For those playing at home, that’s more than 100 times the original sale price of $19 each. With the mainstream media having cottoned on to the absurdity of this auction, it’s not entirely surprising that eBay removed it from the site and Ticketek cancelled the ticket.
A word to any parent willing to pay $2,000 for a ticket to see The Wiggles… YOU HAVE WAY TOO MUCH MONEY. Why not donate some of it to charity? I don’t think the combined total of birthday presents for my first 20 years would have equated to that much cash! If you’re up for spending $2k on a ticket for your toddler you could probably afford to buy your own – œrainbow family’, just like Brangelina. Why not adopt!
