This Sunday from noon, “non stop rock n roll block party” CherryRock008 will take over AC/DC Lane with a line-up of astronomical proportions.
A 100%-rawk party is hard to find these days, and Cherry Rock is set to do it in style. Headlining the day is alt-country outfit The Supersuckers, straight outta Seattle and fronted by the hard-hitting Eddie Spaghetti. Also coming all the way across the seas are The Raveonettes, whose avant-pop stylings should win plenty of hearts. There’s a whole lot of homegrown excellence on show too. The Hitmen (featuring members of Radio Birdman, Hoodoo Gurus and the Screaming Tribesmen ) will play its only Melbourne show. Filling out the ranks with flair are Hell City Glamours, The Exploders, Bowerbirds, The Galvatrons, X, Legends of Motorsport and a bundle more local luminaries.
“We decided we must get AC/DC to play in AC/DC Lane,” says Cherry Rock organiser James Young about the genesis of his boutique festival. “So we started an annual dirty rock n roll party in the street, hoping that in time it would grow in momentum to the point where AC/DC couldn’t ignore their true destiny – to tear up AC/DC Lane in Melbourne just like they did with the Long Way To The Top film clip in Swanston Street in 1975.”
Take a look at all the artists set to tear it up in true block party style.
