The Cairos feel the live spark

Teenage cavaliers The Cairos will be playing at the Brisbane Powerhouse on Sunday March 23. The gig forms part of the Powerhouse’s ongoing free and all-ages Live Spark program, which has rapidly become Brisbane’s favourite Sunday afternoon destination. The gig will see the young indie pop four-piece stretching their muscles against Brisbane alumni Gentle Ben and his Sensitive Side.

The Cairos were the winners of the 2007 Brizband School Challenge, adjudicated by audience vote alone after a blistering performance at the Brisbane Riverstage. Yet this is merely a brief pitstop on what has been a meteoric rise – the band’s infectious indie pop earning them an extensive underage following, as well as growing mainstream interest.

Forged only eight months ago, The Cairos have emerged as an integral cornerstone of Brisbane’s vibrant underage community. Playing everywhere from all-ages festivals to pirate suburban warehouses, they’ve established themselves as one of Brisbane’s most-promising radar-fringe acts. Now high school graduates, The Cairos have set about establishing themselves amongst the local independent music fraternity.

Capitalising on their growing momentum, The Cairos entered the studio in January to carve out their debut EP. Recorded at Airlock Studios with producer/engineer Lee Wilkes, the yet-to-be-titled EP is set to be released in the coming months.
