Over a stinking hot weekend at the Meredith Amphitheatre, the second annual Golden Plains Festival served up a stunning array of international and local artists. With a focus on musical diversity, both days saw a mélange of rock, indie, folk, hip hop and electronica cross the stage.
According to our reviewer, highlights ranged from Beirut’s ambitious, operatic performance to the raw three-man grunt of The Vines. Dancing shoes were well served by Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings on the first day, with Kid Koala doing the late-night honours on Sunday. For most punters, though, the biggest thrill was seeing Ween back in Australia after a long hiatus – playing a two-hour festival set, no less.
