R.I.P DD Meanie

Dennis DePianto, best known to music fans as D.D Meanie from Australian band The Meanies, passed away in St Vincent’s Hospital (Melbourne) on Feb 14. He had been ill for some time with muscular dystrophy and, more recently battled cancer.
DePianto was first diagnosed with muscular dystrophy as a child, but refused to allow the debiillitating disease to tarnish his rock n rolls dreams…
DePianto joined the Meanies as guitarist in 1988 and his distinctive buzz-saw style guitar grooves became synonymous with the group’s sound. He remained with the Meanies until 1995 stamping his style on many of the most well-known Meanies’ classics, including Darkside, Paranoid, Ton of Bricks, 10% Weird,
Mr. Authority and Big Bertha.
DePianto will be buried in his hometown of Adelaide, a memorial is being planned for Melbourne. Stay tuned to FasterLouder for details.
