Melbourne outfit Baseball have decided to hit the new year at a run, announcing the launch of their long awaited debut album, Animal Kingdom and a March/April tour.
the new album was recorded at Head Gap (home to acts such as My Disco, Ninetynine, Magic Dirt, The Slits, etc) and has been mastered by John Golden (Sonic Youth, Chris Isaak, etc) in California.
Originally formed in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2002 – Baseball is the project of Thick Passage (Ninetynine, ex-Sandro) who fronts the band on vocals and rhythm violin, joined by Monika Fikerle (Love of Diagrams) on bass. The duo then acquired the services of Evelyn Morris (Pikelet, True Radical Miracle) on drums and vocals, and Ben Butcher (The Assassination Collective) to play guitar. Since adopting this lineup in 2005 the band have had great success – touring some 18 countries in the last two years and sharing the stage with the likes of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (US), Vincent Gallo (US), Auf Der Maur (Canada) and Boom Boom Satellites (Japan).
