This will be Matchbox Twenty’s fifth tour of our capital cities, but only their first visit since 2003.
Striking massive success with the release of their first hot new tracks in five years, pop-rockers Matchbox Twenty’s Exile On Mainstream (Warner Music) hit the shops on September 29 and immediately thereafter the top of the ARIA Album Chart, debuting at Number 1. With sales already approaching platinum status, the album features six brand new tracks produced by Steve Lillywhite, including the Top Ten single ‘How Far We’ve Come’, plus a second disc of 11 greatest hits.
Joining Matchbox Twenty on their first Australian tour in more than four years will be local rockers Thirsty Merc. This Sydney-based, ARIA nominated band don’t require much by way of introduction. Having enjoyed enormous success with their 2004 self-titled debut album featuring hit tracks ‘Someday, Someday’, ‘In The Summertime’, ‘When The Weather Is Fine’, ‘My Completeness’, ‘Emancipate Myself’, the album stayed put in the ARIA album charts for over a year, selling in excess of 120,000 copies.
