Austrade will be holding a series of free ‘boot camps’ to help bands and managers get a grip on what to expect if they are heading OS for SXSW. The boot camps will take place on January 30 with briefings on networking, visas, grants and more…

Get the latest update on grants, activities and other practical support at SxSW for 2008.
Learn how to expand you networks at the International Matchmaking sessions that Austrade and SxSW are facilitating.
Receive up-to-date advice about the visa process for the United States, including timelines, costs and contacts to help you with your application.
Network with other bands, labels, publishers and managers.
Speakers will include the following:
The Australian Music Office’s Tony George who has been leading Australia’s efforts in the music industry over the last two years on the ground in LA and across the United States, and is a seven-time SxSW veteran.
Immedia’s Phil Tripp has insight into SxSW like few others as their agent in Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii.
AMIN’s Millie Millgate who will will provide an overview of the Australian National Stand at SxSW this year and how you can get involved.
US speakers Brad Aarons (A&R at Universal Publishing), Eric Stein (publicist at Solters in Los Angeles), Peter Cohen (former A&R at Epic Records) and a top touring agent (TBA) will all provide their insights.
Glenn Dickie and Mary Mihelakos from Stage Mothers (formerly The Australian Music Collective) will be present to talk about “The Aussie BBQ” and their stand alone shows in LA, New York and London.
