New York indie-dance kids Shy Child have scored quite a coveted support slot – warming the stage for Bjork at her only Australian headline show, on the steps of the Sydney Opera House. Sadly, though, this means the band’s scheduled sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne have been called off.
The duo – Nate Smith on drums and Pete Cafarella on vocals and keytar (!) – have honed their synthy, ‘80s-mining craft over three albums. The most recent, Noise Won’t Stop, has garnered widespread attention and glowing reviews, winning the boys warm-up duties for Klaxons and Hot Chip. They were even hand-picked to open proceedings at Muse’s Wembley Stadium spectacular – so the Bjork gig should be a cinch.
