McCormack & Fauves In All-StarLineup

Remember watching the Long Way To The Top concert on TV? From Col Joye to Billy Thorpe, it was a reminder of some of the finest Australian rock music of the past thirty years. There was Marcia Hines – you know, that one off Australian Idol. There was Ross Wilson. There were the Masters Apprentices (previously seen hanging out with Laura Gibson on Seachange).

Now, try to imagine the Long Way To The Top arena spectacular circa 2030, celebrating now-contemporary rock bands. We’ll have You Am I belting out Berlin Chair. TISM will be there, dancing to Greg! The Stop Sign!! Craig Nicholls from The Vines will still be rolling around on the stage floor.

But then we’ll have Andrew Cox and his Fauves, all the way from the Mornington Peninsula, playing all the classics from their already-over-fifteen-year-long career – Dogs Are The Best People, Self Abuser, Bigger Than Tina, Give Up Your Day Job... and the crowd will go wild.

And then David McCormack and the Polaroids will take to the stage, and play the hits from McCormack’s past lives as frontman for Custard and The Titanics – you know them all – Apartment, Girls Like That, Millionaire Adventurer Balloonist – as well as tracks from their 2004 album The Truth About Love, including the superb I’m Gonna Execute Your Ex-Boyfriend.

However, if you can’t wait that long, David McCormack and The Fauves are pleased as punch to announce details of three double-bill spectacular shows which will quite possibly blow the collective roof of the respective venues off.

November 19 – Gaelic Club, Surry Hills, Sydney
November 26 – Evelyn Hotel, Fitzroy, Melbourne
November 27 – Evelyn Hotel, Fitzroy, Melbourne

Be there, or wait another 26 years for the opportunity to see these Oz rock legends back to back.
