Recovered from all your New Year shenanigans yet? Well there’s no rest for the wicked because it’s already time to start thinking about how you’re going to plan your adventures when the Big Day Out rolls into town later this month.

There’s a bit of a ‘90s resurgence on the cards with Bjork and Rage Against the Machine heading the bill, while throughout the day the likes of Battles, LCD Soundsystem, Arcade Fire, Grinspoon and silverchair keep things appropriately rowdy.

well obviously you'd pick rage. i mean who do you want to see more? and what band are you likely to see again?
bjork and brand new is a tough one.if it was me i'd see brand new.

Spoon only have the Jan 23rd show with AF on their website.

I'm seeing Spoon in Bangalow (with AF, Jens, A Bird, H Throsby..shhh) and AF on the 22nd in Sydney, then Bjork the next day.

Going to be a superb week

Hmmm, I'm somewhat less excited after seeing this. For mine, Battles are on too early, as are Arcade Fire who disappointingly clash with UNKLE.

I'm hearing a lot of complaining... Wait.. Isn't it the same every year? Of course the biggest electro band is going to clash with the headliner! Give me a break. If you are going to stick 30 odd bands in a festival together, there is going to be tonnes of clashes, you just need to choose which ones you'll see the sideshows of, or which ones you haven't seen before.I've got my line up more or less picked for the day, although it usually changes after I get settled into the atmosphere.

AntiFlag / Cut Off Your Hands - COYH are more fun in a tiny venue where they can run around. On a stage? AntiFlag will probably win this.
Midnight Juggernauts/Gyroscope - Juggies will get this since I'll be in the area. Gyro are also fast becoming the next Grinspoon.

ever seen Augie live before? People who haven't are generaly surprised that putting people to sleep is the last thing they do ( : I hope you go see them, they are worth it.

I need help deciding whether or not to go see augie march or bjork. bjorks the overseas major band, but I like augie march more. but if they're releasing new material that probably means they'll be touring again soon anyway.....I've already decided to see silverchair over karnivool using that logic.......

For me only Clashes are UNKLE > KARNIVOOL

and LCD Soundsystem Vs Rage - not quite sure what to do there

You are wrong, Rex Everything, wrong with a capital R when you choose Children Collide over Augie March.

They're probably not releasing new material til late this year at the earliest, just that they are sampling some new songs or new versions of old songs which are rarely played. This isn't definite of course (I'm mostly guessing) but it's likely... Then again you probably won't see Bjork again for a long time. Sooooo yes you have a problem
