If you see yourself playing at this summer’s West Coast Blues & Roots Festival, you’re in luck: Sunset Events have fronted up yet again with Breakthrough, the band competition that gives you the chance to do exactly that.

And that’s not all. As well as the coveted spot in Fremantle, the winner will be invited to play at the East Coast Blues & Roots Festival in Byron Bay the following weekend. The winning band will also have their choice of two packs of sound equipment valued at $5000 each, thanks to Jim Beam and Jands.

There are also rewards for anyone heading down to the heats and finals to support the competing acts. There are VIP tickets to the festival, as well as an iPod Touch and iTunes vouchers to be won.

The 2008 Breakthrough gigs take place at the following:

Heat 1: Friday, January 18 – Norfolk Basement, Fremantle
Heat 2: Saturday January 19 – The Orient, Fremantle
Heat 3: Sunday January 20 – Newport Hotel, Fremantle
Grand Final: Friday January 25 – Swan Hotel Basement, North Fremantle
