Panics win J Award for '07
Sat 8th Dec, 2007 in Local News
The Panics have been named winners of this year’s J Award for their third album, Cruel Guards, beating a star-studded list of opponents in the process.
Produced by Scott Horsecroft and mixed by Victor Van Vugt, Cruel Guards marked the band’s move to a more polished and refined sound than what was achieved on previous albums A House On a Street in a Town I’m From and Sleeps Like a Curse.
To win the award, The Panics had to overcome favourites Silverchair, as well as FM radio heavyweights The John Butler Trio and Grinspoon. The Panics are the third act to win the award, after Wolfmother won the first J Award two years ago and Hilltop Hoods took the gong this time last year for The Hard Road.
