The results are in – The Veronicas’ Hook Me Up With A Tour Support winners are announced, and the talent they’ve discovered is staggering!
The Frontier Touring Company and MySpace.com are proud to support local acts and have thrown support to the local music community by giving bands the opportunity to open for The Veronicas on their forthcoming Hook Me Up Tour in each city (Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle, Brisbane and the Gold Coast).
Without further ado, the winners are:
Perth: Calerway
Local heroes Calerway took out the crown in Perth. Supporting The Veronicas will top off their recent tour as part of the Boomtown Showdown.
Adelaide: The Sundance Kids
These farm boys have developed quite the following in Adelaide. Frontman Ash Gale provides a unique voice for the band which is only fuelled by their exceptional songwriting.
Melbourne: Capeside
These misfits have taken little time in establishing themselves as one of the bands to watch in 2008. With Capeside proms and opportunities to date Benny Chong, Capeside promise to bring happiness, joy and an unforgettable experience to all before them.
Sydney: Acid Eyeliner
Proudly an unsigned, full time Australia band, Acid Eyeliner are easily a fan favourite on MySpace. After notching up 126 gigs within their first year of becoming a band, Acid Eyeliner are ready to take on The Veronicas.
Wollongong: Cut Sic
Cut Sic have brought a fresh sound to local music as they fuse rock with electronics. Already playing 2007’s Come Together festival plus a swag of other supports, Cut Sic will be ready to show case their best on the Hook Me Up tour.
Newcastle: The Veld
Three years, countless tours and two EPs into their career, it’s hard to believe The Veld’s singer Jake Dobson is still only 17. This won’t hold them back, however, as they promise to tear up the Newcastle stage.
Brisbane: Nina May
In just over a year, Nina May have swooped into the Brisbane music scene in grand fashion. With East Coast tours, an appearance on MTV’s The Lair and an ever-swelling fan base, the only way is up for Nina May.
Gold Coast: The Eighth Colour
In one of the most contested fields, The Eighth Colour reign supreme. From supporting to Evermore to appearing on Rove Live, it’s onward and upward for The Eighth Colour.
