Air for east coast only? I guess that cancels out the fact we don't have to put up with Mika in Perth. But seriously, fucking AIR NOT DOING PERTH. Poor form, Branson.

MorningAfterboy

MorningAfterboy said on the 28th Nov, 2007

That's a bummer, man!
I remember you said Moon Safari was one of your all-time favourite albums.

Air would be awesome- The Virgin Suicides soundtrack blows my mind every time.

Also, I'm calling for all three threads to be thrown together for some kind of robo-mega-thread?

dream_brother

dream_brother said on the 28th Nov, 2007

yeah 3 threads is bullshit. can we just keep it in this one now or something.

man how much are tickets??

disasterplan

disasterplan said on the 28th Nov, 2007

I was expecting a bit more from Air when I saw them live... I guess I expected from their live act the same kind of amazement I still get when I listen to Moon Safari.

Still, fucking cunts. No Perth Fuck fuck fuck shit cunt motherfuckers gash gash gash.

The fact that I have been able to see The Stooges, The Pixies and JMC in the last three years is ridiculous.

i saw the smashing pumpkins maybe 9 or 10 years ago when they did the tour for that horrible 'machina machines of god' album. or maybe it was 'adore'. anyway, they were fucking shit and self indulgent and i hated them for it because i wanted to see them mellon collie/siamese dream mode soooooooo bad but was too young to have ever gone to those shows. i think their new album is such an exciting return to form, so i am stoked they'll be playing!!

i wonder how much old material they play in the set? has anyone read setlists from o/s shows? i hope they play Soma.... ahhhhhhh

MorningAfterboy

I wonder if there will be sideshows.
All Ages sideshows, preferably.

Pixies did the Big Top this year...was that AA?
Also, would SP play the same place?

angy

angy said on the 29th Nov, 2007

I don't think the Smashing Pumpkins ever put out anything to match Siamese Dream... But they've still got pulling power for me! And Queens of the Stone Age... Damn!

I don't know how it could have possible matched last year's success... I just remember walking into those lush green fields of centennial park at around midday, and seeing the awesome setup they had. Crystal clear sound! WAY better than any of the substandard sound quality we've been hearing at the BDO.

Let's see if they can match it this year! :)

Machina is awesome, if you saw them here then that was the Adore tour in 1998. they've been playing some random oldies, i've got a few setlists saved at home, i'll bump the reunion thread with them when i get home tonight.

must have been the adore tour then - it was at the ent cent. i remember they did this awful 10 minute long tribal drum version of 'bullet with butterfly wings'. i saved all my money from working my shitty job at pizza hut to buy a ticket for the show, blah blah blah. same old story of being stuck in that frame of mind where you expect a band to play the same set they would have done 5 years before haha.

would love to see some setlists though!

Dude, I have a bootleg of that and it kicks arse.
I love it when bands do things differently, and the Adore tour definitely isolated a lot of fans but it was worth it, I reckon.
The version of Ava Adore from that tour is fucking great.
