HIM bring Venus Doom downunder

Finnish metal band HIM will tour Australia in March, taking their Venus Doom album tour to Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Since its release in September, Venus Doom, the band’s sixth studio album, is fast becoming their most successful, a decade on from when debut Greatest Love Songs Vol 666 first hit shelves. The album features lead-off single The Kiss of Dawn, as well as forthcoming single release Bleed Well.

Tickets for the shows go on sale at 9am on Thursday November 29.

HIM Venus Doom Australian tour 2008:

Sunday March 23 – Metro City, Perth
Tuesday March 25 – Big Top @ Luna Park, Sydney
Thursday March 27 – Festival Hall, Melbourne
Saturday March 29 – The Tivoli, Brisbane

There's not really links between them and Finnish metal, either.

But if you want to check them out I'd probably recommend Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666 or maybe Dark Light.

GLS is not a good starting point for HIM. their other material changes too drastically, in comparison.

start with RR.

I find the early stuff to be more well regarded by people that don't listen to that kind of music. And the more they progressed the shitter* they got. RR is not indicative of most of their sound.

*With the exception of And Love Said No because that song is the cat's meow.

you seem to be forgetting "Death's in love us" and "Resurrection". Those songs kick ass. also, how you couldn't mention the awesome live disc that comes with RR astounds me. awesome shi niz.

and dont start harping on about how shit HIM are post -GL. you commented on how awesome it was when i was listening to DS&BH.

That would probably be the best option. It has all their big hits on there.
The most irritating thing about HIM is tat any given song will appear on two or three of their releases.

to be honest the reason i'm anti HIM is because of their perfunctory performance last time they played here. turned me off them. though i still get a lady boner for ville.

didnt watch em. saw em the time before though and really enjoyed it (probably more so because i caught Villes redbull can haha). i was impressed by the fact that they managed to convert me into a fan of some of their new stuff (i always HATED Play Dead before i heard it live, but then when i heard Ville pound out the chorus i was immediately a believer).

The first show was fantastic. It turned my gig companion into a fan. The last show was really bad. You knew they didn't want to be there and Ville kept on muttering 'Let's get this shit over and done with' to the rest of the band
