The Vines sign to Ivy League

The Vines have signed a new recording deal with Ivy League Records and are set to begin recording their fourth album with producer Rob Schnapf in Los Angeles in mid November.
This new partnership continues a long-running association and friendship between the band and Ivy League, and both parties are extremely excited about what the future holds for the group who have had their share of well documented highs and lows over their five year recording career.
Emerging with a bang in 2002, The Vines were at the very forefront of a new rock movement around the world along with contemporaries The Strokes, The Hives and The White Stripes. Their debut album Highly Evolved sold more than 1.5 million copies. Their second album Winning Days was a less happy time for the band in spite of its quality when singer Craig Nicholls’ increasingly erratic behaviour led to a diagnosis of Aspergers Syndrome (a high functioning form of autism) and an extended hiatus as Nicholls learnt to deal with his condition.
Vision Valley saw the band re-emerge with a still fragile yet unshakably gifted Nicholls starting afresh. His gradual rehabilitation saw the band re-emerge on to the live stage again with a series of outstanding festival performances in Australia and the UK in 2006 including Big Day Out, Reading and Leeds. 2007 has been spent writing and rehearsing songs for what promises to be an amazing fourth album.
The Vines join fellow ARIA Award winners Josh Pyke and Youth Group on the Ivy League roster, as well as the likes of Red Riders, The Silents, Bridezilla and The Mess Hall to make up one of the most exciting line-ups in the country. Ivy League are currently celebrating their tenth anniversary and couldn’t have hoped for a better way to celebrate than with the addition of such a prominent band to their roster.
