The Perth International Arts Festival is back this summer and if you thought you’d seen it all, think again.

Taking place at the Beck’s Music Box, the festival’s brand new custom-built contemporary music venue, the All Tomorrow’s Parties-branded Don’t Look Back concert series will make its Perth debut.

And as part of the festival program, seminal noise-rock band Sonic Youth and Perth legends The Scientists will perform classic albums in full when they come to town in February.

The Scientists, featuring the ever-present Kim Salmon will play 1983 album Blood Red River on February 13. Since their split in 1987 Salmon has involved himself with various creative outlets, including the Beasts of Bourbon and work with Dave Graney in the band Salmon. The original lineup reunited to support Mudhoney in the UK, before releasing Sedition, a recording of that performance, on the ATP label.

Fronted by the iconic Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, Sonic Youth need little in the way of introduction. Over their 15 studio albums since 1982, the NY quartet have repeatedly set standards with their approach to noisy and experimental approach to alternative rock. They’ll perform 1988 breakthrough album Daydream Nation at the Music Box on February 23.

Tickets are available through www.perthfestival.com.au and BOCS on (08) 9484 1133.

Friends of the Festival get priority access to tickets from November 8-11, while public bookings open through BOCS on November 12.
