The Fly by Night Musicians Club in Fremantle celebrates its 21st birthday in November and they’ve got a bumper month of gigs planned to mark the occasion.
The Fly by has a pretty impressive CV: it hosts an average of over 100 events each year and a total attendance eclipsing 500,000 since first opening its doors in 1986.
Kicking off the celebrations this weekend are the likes of Anthony Nieves, Perth icons The Stems with two shows and J-Award foursome British India.
And it only gets better. Throughout the month the Fly by plays host to Clare Bowditch, Renee Geyer, Bill Callaghan, the Roots Roadshow and Ed Kuepper.
But the highlight of the birthday bash undoubtedly comes on November 12 when the one and only John Cale brings his solo tour to town. Renowned for his work as a founder-member of The Velvet Underground, Cale stopped at the Fly by Night when he last visited WA back in 1993.
