JBT and Urban team up again

Australian music’s movers and shakers were treated to an incredible performance by The John Butler Trio and Keith Urban at the ARIA Awards last Sunday. Anyone who was privileged enough to catch it knows what I am talking about. Their inspired rendition of JBT’s hit single Funky Tonight (which was nominated for single of the year) garnered a standing ovation from the packed Acer Arena. Butler and Urban duelled on guitars while the Trio’s rhythm section comprised of Michael Barker and Shannon Birchall jammed out.
Thankfully JBT and Urban realise how kickass their performance was and are making it available starting on November 3 for download exclusively on iTunes. All the proceeds are being donated to the Close the Gap campaign, an organisation committed to making the Australian government take action to achieve health equality for Indigenous Australians within 25 years. How refreshing to have these insanely talented musicians not only care about their music, but also about their country and the people who inhabit it.
