It would seem a new super group drops into the picture every other week – in fact we’re a little tired of hearing about them – that’s why Dew Process’ latest concept album No Man’s Woman has us intrigued.
Rather than assemble a supergroup to record an album, the label has come up with the concept of getting (male) musos to cover famous tracks previously recorded by female artists. Thus you have Angus Stone doing Joni Mitchell’s River, Powderfinger doing the Portishead track Glory Box, Whitley taking a crack at Bjork’s Hyperballad and Tex Perkins serving up his idea of the Helen Reddy classic I Am Woman to name just a few.
For those of you that wanna know a bit more about the whole process, take a geezer at the accompanying video which features the making of Hyperballad.
