If you’re a boy of a certain age then no doubt you will have fond memories of nineties rockers The Baby Animals, thanks to their sassy frontwoman Suze Demarchi. Well pass the lubricant, lads, the lass is back and ready to set your dreams in motion once more.
For those of you too young to remember, The Baby Animals smacked the rock scene right in the kisser during the spring of 1991. Their debut album spent six weeks at number one, went eight times platinum and for 12 years held the record for the biggest selling rock album of all time. (Jet knocked them off the block)
With their debut they scored three ARIA Awards and their follow up LP Shaved & Dangerous saw them touring the US with with Robert Plant before returning home to headline their own Australian tour.
In 1995 on the verge of their first major US tour, their US-based record company Imago Records folds after losing its distributor, BMG. The band tries unsuccessfully to be released from the Imago label. Soon afterwards in early 1996 the band take a break from touring and recording while Suze focuses on motherhood. But enough of the history lesson. Cut to the present and the band have gotten back together to record a new rock album, Il Grande Silenzio due to drop in early 2008. The band plan to kick off a national tour in the coming months, stay tuned to FasterLouder for details.
