Boys of Summer returns for2008!

After doubling in size in it’s second time around, the third annual Boys of Summer tour boasts it’s best lineup yet with Silverstein, The Amity Affliction, Set Your Goals, Deez Nuts and Capeside joining forces to serve up the perfect blend of local and international punk and hardcore talent. The Boys of Summer 2008 is the perfect festival alternative for fans of hard-edged and underground music.

With two sold-out headline tours already under their belt, Silverstein need no introduction to Australian audiences. It’s been a long but thrilling ride for this quintet who came together in Ontario, Canada at the turn of the millennium. After putting out two EPs independently, the band signed to Victory Records and released their debut album When Broken Is Easily Fixed and followed that up with Discovering The Waterfront which sold over half a million records worldwide. The band increased that momentum by performing on a slew of major festival tours including The Warped Tour, Taste Of Chaos, Give It A Name and Download festivals before taking three months off to write their most personal record to date Arrivals and Departures.

Front man Shane Told admits “I ended a seven-year relationship right before I started on this record… That’s something you can’t ignore when you’re writing lyrics… I wanted to convey a message of hope through the record, in that no matter what happens, you can still get through the tough times, get better and be happy.”

That sense of transition also impacted the recording of Arrivals and Departures with the band deciding to use legendary producer Mark Trombino ( Jimmy Eat World, Blink 182 ). And now that the new album has arrived Silverstein are eager to depart on more globe-hopping tours to play the new tunes to their rapidly growing fan base in Australia and the rest of the world.

With the release of their High Hopes EP in March this year The Amity Affliction has quickly become one of the most talked about bands in the Australian hardcore scene. The Amity Affliction have developed a reputation for a killer live show after playing alongside Underoath and He is Legend and completing seven national tours in the last 12 months.

Described by Alternative Press as ” New Found Glory after eight cans of Red Bull” San Francisco punk rockers Set Your Goals join the Boys of Summer and make their way to Australia for the very first time. Featuring unique duelling vocals and coming off the back of US tours with Senses Fail, New Found Glory and Paramore, Set Your Goals are keen to show Australia what the hype is all about.

From the ashes of Australian metalcore legends I Killed The Prom Queen, former beat keeper come frontman JJ Peters has risen like a phoenix to create Deez Nuts. Sporting his debut EP Rep Your Hood and boasting a reputation for hardcore-driven party anthems laced with the tongue-in-cheek rap ethic of just not giving a f#@k, Deez Nuts will definitely bring the party.

After playing their very first shows with Gym Class Heroes and Hellogoodbye no one can get a show started like Capeside. With an all-star lineup including current and former members of Horsell Common, Magentaline and The Getaway Plan, and providing undeniably catchy pop tunes and fun-loving attitude Capeside are an unbeatable force of fun and feeling.
