It’s all about how to be a part of the world’s largest musical flea market where 12,500 professionals schmooze while 1400 bands battle it out over five days in 60 venues with a full on trade show and amazing series of seminars and speakers.
In the past five years, the AustralAsian presence has grown to over 250 registrants and 40 bands in 2007 from five bands and 20 attendees in 2002.
If you want to be a part of SXSW 2008 – these seminars are your first stop off point. So far Gregg Donovan (manager of Grinspoon, Josh Pyke and Airbourne and two year veteran of SXSW) is confirmed for Sydney with the tag team of Mary Mihelakos & EMI Records’ exec Glenn Dickie (Australian Music Collective) for Melbourne along with Arts Victoria Program Manager of Victoria Rocks (and Something for Kate manager) Jonathan Williamson also confirmed with other speakers to be announced.
The seminars kick off at 6pm with a meet and greet followed by a background Austrade DVD showing the event in all aspects, an industry panel discussion and Q&A’s from the audience.
