Twenty years ago Aussie garage rock legends The Stems disbanded – a strange decision given the success of the band’s LP 1987’s At First Sight Violets Are Blue. Whilst the reason for the break up remains a mystery the good news is – they’ve reformed once more and will be releasing a new CD Heads Up.
Containing 10 shiny new garage rock gems Heads Up was recorded in Perth in the earlier part of 2007 at the analogue and vintage recording compound KingDom Studios and later mixed at Ultrasuede in Cincinnati by producer John Curley ( White Stripes, Afghan Wigs, Greenhornes, & Ronnie Spector ).
In March 2003 The Stems reunited for a national tour proved the band’s popularity once more and saw the release of two retrospective CDs and gigs played in packed houses across the US. No doubt this new labum and tour will also raise a ruckus. Tix on sale Monday September 24.
