The ink continues to flow at Ivy League Records and The Mess Hall are the latest to join the label’s ranks. The Mess Hall, featuring Jed Kurzel on guitar and Cec Condon on drums, is renowned for its blistering live shows and raw, bluesy rock sounds.
Jed and Cec spent some time in the USA last year touring with the likes of Wilco and Wolfmother. The Mess Hall’s 2005 debut album Notes From A Ceiling was a hit both here and abroad, winning an ARIA Award for ‘Engineer Of The Year’ ( Matt Lovell ) and scoring an ARIA nomination for Producer Of The Year (The Mess Hall and Chris Joannou ). Notes From A Ceiling was also shortlisted for the prestigious Australian Music Prize award, and featured in Rolling Stone’s top albums of the year.
Ivy League Records is now excited to be releasing The Mess Hall’s brand new album Devil’s Elbow on October 27.
Recorded at Bigjesusburger Studios in Sydney with Gerling’s Burke Reid at the helm, Devil’s Elbow is an amazing collection of songs that highlight Jed’s innate ability to tell a great story and Cec’s undeniable rhythmic talent. The album also sees the band employ a lot more instrumentation, with Malcolm Clark of The Sleepy Jackson, Loene Carmen, Justin Kurzel, Simon Ferenci and Ben Cairns all contributing to what is set to be one of the albums of the year.
Devil’s Elbow hits the streets on October 27 through Ivy League Records.
