Organisers have released the first lineup announcement for one of Australia’s most treasured and unique musical events, the Meredith Music Festival.
After wowing crowds on festival stages around Europe, indie darlings Gossip are heading to our shores to top the Meredith bill. And all the way from the UK, Art Brut, will make their first trip down under to join them.
Keeping to the theme of Aussie virgins, garage rockers The Black Lips will be storming into the township of Meredith with a live set that has been creating that much buzz it could probably power a paddock full of wind turbines. And if that’s not enough to turn your undies a shade darker than the inclusion of the indescribable Andrew WK sure will.
More OS action includes German band Clutch and Jamaican dancehall legend Junior Reid coming to mix things up.
But wait – there’s more! The local lineup is huge. Meredith regulars and Melbourne’s fave punks Eddy Current Suppression Ring are coming to get messy with the punters again, along with Little Red, the amazing Gotye, Ned Collette Band and Lady Strangelove. And to keep the Meredith Faithful dancing all night, Midnight Juggernaughts are back along with Cut Copy, Muscles and DJ Mu-Gen.
Dear me it’s huge!
If you were lucky enough to be part of the first round ticket ballot then you’ll be hearing from Aunty Meredith on August 28th about purchasing tickets.
But don’t stress if you missed out: store sales start on September 10 and online sales start on September 12 via GreenTix.
