After impressing at her many, many live performances over the past year, Felicity Groom has unveiled her new band.
One of the big success stories of 2006, Groom’s Cashie/Cave/Cohen-inspired songwriting has landed her positive reviews across the board and has won her a long list of admirers amongst Perth’s musical elite.
Groom’s band features Jebediah bassist Vanessa Thornton, guitarist Andrew Ryan (Fall Electric, Adam Said Galore), drummer Ian Chater (The Bank Holidays) and Kill Devil Hills’ Alex Archer, which made their debut this month, giving an indication of her place in the Perth scene and taking her sound to a new level.
The launch gig takes place at the Rosemount Hotel on Friday August 17, with support coming from a host of Perth’s top acts. Fresh from releasing the Skips On My Record EP and supporting The Long Blondes at their recent Perth gig, New Rules for Boats will line up to show their support. Next Big Thing winners The Harlequin League are also set to appear, as is a ‘special mystery guest’.
