After smashing it last year on its Australian debut, metal festival Gigantour returns for a second year this November leaving a wake of destruction and bleeding ears behind… when a huge lineup headed by Megadeth hits the stage.
After the phenomenal success in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane last year, Gigantour will also be taking in Adelaide and Perth for the very first time.
In 2006, Gigantour creator Dave Mustaine promised “It is going to be something to look forward to each year, to see what kind of tremendous talent we can assemble, for Gigantour festivals in the years to come.”
Mustaine has lived up to his promise and a slew of talented metal acts has been assembled for this year’s event and is set to blow the 2006 shows out of the water.
Megadeth return to headline as part of their worldwide Tour of Duty supporting new album United Abominations, which Heavymetal.com proclaims is “the best Megadeth album in at least a decade”.
Having elevated themselves beyond cult worship status, Static X have developed a rabid Australian fan base, built mainly on a massive arena tour with Korn and a sold out co-headline tour with Il Nino. They’ll be landing in Australia ready to draft you into the X army.
Since the arrival of their self-titled debut in 2003, Devildriver have made a massive impact on the metal scene with their monstrous grooves, brutal, haunting vocals and crushing live performances. Get ready for the destruction…
Completing the lineup are Italy’s Lacuna Coil, who will make their first trip to Australia for Gigantour serving up lashings of doom-pop to the punter.
Tickets for Gigantour go on sale on Thursday August 23.
