Censorship and controversy asMarduk enter Australia
Wed 8th Aug, 2007 in Local News
Marduk have never before been to Australia, and every time they try to get here, something gets in their way. In the latest chain of events, a great deal of controversy has arisen as the band touched down in Australia.
As noted by promoters Just Say Rock Productions, a mini lobby group was set up to ensure that the band would not be allowed into the country for the tour. Pressure has come from conservative groups, religious groups, politicians and certain federal government ministers.
Luckily, all attempts to stop Marduk have failed, and the band will go ahead with the shows as planned.
Recent acts that have come here – Black Metallers Behemoth, Defiled, death metallers Suffocation and others have not faced the same type of censorship, and all played to packed gigs around the country.
