Letter to Spain preview debutalbum Thursday night

Up and coming Brisbane band, Letter To Spain have come a long way since forming in 2007. High school friends, drummer Jon Kirkpatrick and guitarist Nic Lane began a few different projects, but then started to find their feet, and along with Nic’s cousin Daniel Stewart, who joined them on vocalist duties, Letter to Spain was born.

Releasing their debut EP The Thing About Living Is We All End Up Stopping in April 2008, the trio’s soulful vocals and melodic riffs firmly establishing their’s as a quintessentially indie sound. Drawing on the many varied influences of Alexisonfire, Bruce Springsteen and local bands such as The Amity Affliction, Dead Letter Circus and The Paper and the Plane, the trio discovered that they had much more to offer.

With another addition to the band, fellow musician and good friend Mike Smith, this helped them to realise this potential, and they began to experiment. With a much more free and uninhibited approach to writing and by gaining valuable experience performing, the foursome feel that they have grown and matured as musicians, and have now almost completed their debut album.

Letter to Spain are looking to release their full length feature, O’Voyagers, in early July of this year and the boys are excited about their album preview show at Barsoma on this Thursday the 21st May. Having also booked Club 299 and Rosies toward the end of June and in early July, things are moving along quite nicely for this extremely talented group.

Get along to Barsoma, 22 Constance Street, Fortitude Valley from 5pm for Letter to Spain, supported by The Dream, The Chase.
