After parting ways with Rise Against , Chris Chasse had no intentions of putting his axe to rest. Instead he got creative and enlisted Brett Rasmussen of Southern Californian punk staples Ignite . He also roped Dave Peters , vocalist of hardcore favourites Throwdown , into jumping on board for a few tracks and it didn’t take much to convince Steve Jennings and Nik Piscitello , members of Californian-based Spark of Life , to fill-out the line-up.
In only a few short weeks, the group had written an EP’s worth of songs. “Last of the Believers honestly came together in a blink of an eye. Steve and I have been long time friends. One day we simply started talking about starting a band. He said that he had a great guitar player, Nik, and that I should come out to LA and write some songs. That’s exactly what I did. I was on a plane from Chicago to LA within a week,” says Chasse.
Happy with the finished product, the boys immediately put the wheels in motion to launch it. “We met up for the first time in May, recorded the songs in June, and are now releasing that CD.”
After years of collective experience racked up with major labels the boys decided to throw caution to the wind and have chosen the independent route on releasing this album. It’s been a good decision for the Last of The Believers ÂÂ- almost overnight interest in the band has seen them explode onto the scene.
Now it’s Australia’s turn to experience Last of the Believers. The EP, Paper Ships Under a Burning Bridge , hits stores in September through AmpHead, digitally available through AmpHead/The Orchard.
