Curiouser and curiouser… A clock on Rage Against The Machine’s official website has begun counting down to a date in late August. Will we be getting a new album? Who knows but it seems things are ticking again for the world’s angriest nu-metal protest band.
If a new album sounds like wishful thinking, there’s speculation that the countdown could instead be for an unannounced concert or even a live album featuring their recent 13 song performance at the Coachella festival. The show show the four-piece performing Rage classics like Testify, Bulls on Parade, Sleep Now In the Fire and Killing in the Name.
The group will reuniting again in late July for several shows as part of the Rock the Bells tour. Nobody really knows what will be happening after that, but lead guitarist Tom Morello isn’t exactly hosing down speculation.
“We’re having a great time rehearing so the door is certainly open to playing more shows,” he told Billboard last month. “It feels great in the room.”
