The Cult are coming back

It’s been quiet on their front for a while, but the classic UK hard rockers The Cult have found a new home on Roadrunner Records (home to the likes of Stone Sour, Slipknot, Soul Fly and many more) and they’ve also got a new album on the horizon that will be their first since 2001.

Founding member and vocalist Ian Astbury seems pretty happy about it. “We have always dreamed of finding a label that allows us artistic freedom and has the muscle to get the music to the people,” he says.

The UK group have been responsible in the past for hits like She Sells Sanctuary, Rain and Wild Flower. The new studio album is currently being recorded in London with producer Youth and it will be released in conjunction with The Cult’s imprint label New Wilderness. To showcase their new sounds they’ll be embark on a series of European arena shows with The Who starting early June.

Expect the new, as yet untitled album to hit the stores by late September.
