Glastonbury lineup is here

Months after tickets sold out, the lineup for this year’s Glastonbury Festival is finally here. Despite many of the bands confirming their appearance earlier in the year, the first official lineup announcement comes today, just three weeks before the first band kicks off.

Arctic Monkeys top the bill on the famed Pyramid stage on June 22, while The Killers take the prestigious Saturday night headline slot and The Who will close the festival on the Sunday night. And, as if that wasn’t enough, the Other Stage headliners look just as tasty: Bjork (Friday), Iggy and the Stooges (Saturday) and The Chemical Brothers (Sunday).

NME darlings The View are one of several bands making multiple appearances, performing on the Pyramid on Friday before hitting the Other Stage on the Sunday night. Klaxons play the Other Stage on Saturday and will also appear in the Dance Tent. Flying the flag for the Aussies are Josh Pyke, who plays the Park Stage at lunchtime on Saturday and The Cat Empire, who have the unenviable task of playing at the same time as Arcade Fire and Kasabian.

There are the usual wildcard appearances on the Sunday, with Dame Shirley Bassey and the National Youth Orchestra with Goldfrapp on the Pyramid… but don’t worry if that’s not your thing, as there’s plenty more to see and do.
