Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg and Foo Fighters will head the lineup for seven 24-hour concerts this July as part of a campaign aiming to raise awareness of environmental and climate change issues.
The Live Earth concerts will take place in seven different cities on July 7, and will run for 24 hours, bringing together performers from across the world. The format is similar to that of 2005’s Live 8, where Coldplay and U2 rallied support for the Make Poverty History campaign.
At a press conference with curator and one-time US Presidential candidate Al Gore, Sydney was confirmed to host the Oceania event, while Shanghai, London, Johannesburg will also take part. Events are scheduled for Japan, Brazil and the USA, though host cities are still to be confirmed, and the message is estimated to reach two billion people through television, radio and internet.
