The Internet is buzzing with rumours that legendary band Jane’s Addiction have – once again – broken up. After scaling the heights of alt-rock fame (before there was even an alt-rock), the group broke up acrimoniously at their most successful, before reconciling ten years later, in 2002. An album, Strays, and a number of shows resulted.
The reports of the band’s demise have their basis in a posting made to a webpage maintained by guitarist Dave Navarro. It was signed by all members of Jane’s Addiction – except for vocalist Perry Farrell. The website post, entitled “State Of The Union”, read as follows:
